Today’s feature brings you a glimpse into the life of Paul and Maria, a couple who were born and raised in Germany and have lived there ever since. Paul works as a bus driver, while Maria is a philologist. Many people have been curious about what the home of such an ordinary yet endearing couple might look like — and now you get to find out!

It’s worth noting that over 40% of Germany’s population lives in rental housing. While we didn’t ask Paul and Maria about the cost of their place, one thing is certain: the location is great, situated in a quiet residential area of Hamburg.

One of the standout features of their home is the kitchen — surprisingly spacious by German standards, where kitchens are typically small and narrow. This one is a refreshing exception. The bedroom, styled with comfort and individuality in mind, offers a serene space for rest and recharge.

Moving on to the hallway, the entrance door is positioned on the left — and, as is typical in Germany, you won’t find a metal door here. The entire apartment is tastefully unified with a consistent and calming color palette throughout.
