The star of today’s story is a man who set out to completely transform his mother-in-law’s outdated apartment, which hadn’t seen a renovation in decades. The condition was far from ideal, so he and his wife wasted no time in surprising her with a full-scale makeover.

Although she was content with the existing layout and didn’t want it altered, she admitted the overall appearance needed improvement. To achieve a high-quality result, the couple enlisted the help of a professional interior designer.

In the entryway, they opted for soft mint-colored walls and terracotta-hued tiles on the floor. Wood paneling adorned the walls, complete with hooks for coats. They also added a floating console, a backlit mirror, and a black ottoman. Across from this area, a large closet was installed for additional storage.

The kitchen flooring matched that of the hallway, creating a cohesive look. A kitchen set was placed to the right of the entrance, with a gentle green accent wall behind it. The upper cabinets were made of wood, while the lower cabinets were painted in a timeless white.
In the living room, parquet floors were installed. A spacious gray sofa faced a modern TV setup, with the wall behind painted a bold orange. The room also included open and closed shelving units, and a secondary sleeping area was arranged at the back.

Built-in shelves and cabinets lined the sides, fulfilling one of the renovation’s key goals: maximizing storage.
In the bedroom, the walls were decorated with two different types of wallpaper instead of paint. A double bed with a lift-up storage feature was placed in the center, accompanied by a chest of drawers and a roomy wardrobe opposite it.

The couple also opted to separate the bathroom and toilet. The same hexagonal, brick-toned tiles were laid on the floor. For the walls, they chose white and gray tiles with a brick-like texture. A floating vanity was installed beneath the sink for a sleek, modern finish.
