A family of three has been arrested in Czechia for operating a dental clinic without licenses or medical education, according to The Guardian.
In 2023, the trio—relatives—opened a dental practice in the town of Havlíčkův Brod. A 22-year-old man posed as a dentist and performed examinations, tooth extractions, root canal treatments, and administered anesthesia—all skills he claimed to have learned from online videos.

A 50-year-old woman worked as a nurse. Authorities reported that she was officially employed in the healthcare sector and supplied the clinic with anesthetics and other dental materials she had access to. These included fillings, cleaning powder, adhesives, impression materials, and more.
A 44-year-old man provided the premises for the clinic and fabricated dental prosthetics for patients. The exact nature of their family relationship has not been disclosed.
Police did not clarify whether any patients had filed complaints, but noted that the unlicensed practitioner and his accomplices earned around 4 million Czech koruna (approx. 14.5 million rubles) from their operations.

All three suspects have been detained. In addition to charges of illegal business operations and money laundering, they face accusations of attempted assault, drug trafficking, and theft. If convicted, they could face up to 8 years in prison.
In a related case in Sweden, another dentist alerted police about young patients with severe cavities. The court ultimately ruled that the children’s parents had neglected their oral hygiene and sentenced the couple to 8 months in prison.
