When you look at Rolf Buchholz today, it’s hard to believe he was once just an ordinary office worker.
Born in the German city of Dortmund, Rolf earned a degree in telecommunications and spent many years working for a major IT company.
He was quiet, even unnoticeable. But deep inside, there was something more — a desire for freedom, self-expression, and breaking the mold.
His first tattoo appeared when he was already over 40. Then came a piercing. Just one. Then another. That marked the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead him to a world record.

Today, Rolf has more than 560 piercings, including over 170 on his face and 278 in intimate areas.
His appearance is completed by a split tongue, subdermal horn implants on his forehead, and a body almost entirely covered in tattoos.

This has earned him a Guinness World Record for “the most body modifications.”
But for Rolf, it’s not just about records or shock value. He says body modification is a form of freedom — an art he wears on his skin. According to him, he didn’t become a different person — he simply allowed the world to see his true self.

And indeed, behind the intimidating exterior is an intelligent, kind, and humorous man. He speaks calmly, smiles often, and is easy to talk to.
His appearance triggers strong and polarized reactions — some admire him, others feel disgust or fear.
In 2014, he was even denied entry to Dubai, allegedly for “security reasons” — airport staff reportedly suspected him of being… a black magician.
