Katy’s husband, Orlando Bloom, and their daughter were there at the launch site, watching her take off. But now, it turns out that space might have driven a wedge between the couple — and they may be on the verge of breaking up or might have already split.
According to sources speaking with foreign media, Bloom reportedly criticized Katy’s spaceflight, calling it “pointless and ridiculous.”
“It hurt her feelings — of course it did,” the insider shared. “Imagine going to space, actual freaking space, and your partner isn’t impressed.”
Reports say Bloom still plans to attend the wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos, whose space company Blue Origin organized the flight. Meanwhile, Katy is skipping the event — a major moment for her friend Lauren Sánchez — due to her tour schedule.
“He’s complaining about her going to space, and now he wants to attend the wedding hosted by the people who made that very trip possible for her,” the source added. “They’re actually closer to Katy than they are to him, and yet he’s the one going. That really frustrates her, especially since he doesn’t have much of a bond with any of them.”
Previously, Katy Perry faced online backlash — including from public figures — for participating in the spaceflight, with critics calling it an unnecessary, expensive stunt that harms the environment. In response, Perry later admitted she regrets certain aspects of the experience.
