Tom Cruise Makes History! Guinness Record Earned for Jaw-Dropping Stunt in Mission (Video)

Tom Cruise has officially set a new Guinness World Record — and this time, it’s for a mind-blowing stunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The 62-year-old action icon earned the title for “most burning parachute jumps by an individual” after performing a series of fiery leaps that defy belief.

While filming in South Africa’s Drakensberg Mountains, Cruise jumped from a helicopter not once but 16 times — each time with a parachute soaked in fuel and set on fire mid-air. He had just seconds to detach the scorched chute before deploying a backup to land safely.

Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, praised Cruise’s courage:

“Tom doesn’t just act like a hero — he is one. His dedication to realism and pushing physical limits is unmatched. We’re thrilled to honor his fearless achievements.”

Some of these skydives were even more intense, as Cruise wore a 50-pound camera rig strapped to his body to capture the action up close.

And this isn’t his first time in the Guinness books. Cruise also holds the record for the most consecutive films to break $100 million at the box office — 11 hits in a row since Jack Reacher (2012), including Top Gun: Maverick, Edge of Tomorrow, and multiple Mission: Impossible blockbusters.

His devotion to extreme stunts doesn’t stop there. Cruise recently revealed he blacked out while filming a sequence involving a vintage 1930s plane, due to lack of oxygen at high speeds.

“When your face is in the wind going over 120 miles an hour, you have to train yourself to breathe,” he told Empire. “I would literally pass out trying to get back in the cockpit.”

From scaling skyscrapers to hanging off planes and trains, Cruise has continually redefined what it means to be an action star — and this fiery new record proves he’s still at the top of his game.
