We just wanted a quiet dinner. Nothing fancy — a cozy little restaurant in the city center, delicious aromas, soft music. But the evening turned into an absolute nightmare.
My friend had ordered a quinoa and avocado salad. Everything looked great, until she suddenly froze mid-bite.
“Do you see that?” she asked, pointing at something on her plate.
There were tiny black specks scattered across the salad, looking just like chia seeds. For a second, we thought they were just seasoning or some trendy topping.
We ordered a salad — but what we found in it sent us straight to the hospital
But her face grew more tense.
“These aren’t seeds… Look, they’re moving.”
We leaned in closer — and our blood ran cold. The “seeds” were actually wiggling. Tiny, almost translucent orbs with dark centers… They were eggs. Insect eggs. Right there in the food.
First came shock, then a scream. The waitstaff rushed over and tried to explain, but we were already calling an ambulance. We had no idea what kind of creature had laid eggs in the meal, or whether we had already ingested something.
My friend started to panic — whether from fear or nausea, I’m still not sure.
We ordered a salad — but what we found in it sent us straight to the hospital
At the hospital, we were examined, had tests done, and were given medications “just in case.” Doctors advised us to monitor symptoms closely. As for the restaurant… of course, we filed a complaint.
They tried to blame it on a “technical error” or “spoiled ingredient shipment,” but we didn’t care. After that dinner, trust was shattered beyond repair.
Now every time I see chia seeds, that night flashes before my eyes.
