That Was Awful! Nicole Kidman’s Hair Extension Fail Turns Heads in Cannes

The Hollywood star with Australian roots is taking part in events at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Recently, she appeared at the Kering Women In Motion Awards 2025 ceremony and at the presidential dinner. Nicole chose a floor-length, lacy red dress for the occasion. The figure-hugging silhouette emphasized her slim figure. The look was completed with classic stiletto pumps. For accessories, the actress wore a gold watch and a ring with a large diamond. Kidman had glamorous makeup and wore her hair down. However, her hairstyle didn’t quite go as planned.

The Oscar winner often wears wigs for her numerous film roles. In public, she appeared with hair extensions to add volume and create a more youthful look. But the extensions were attached carelessly, making the parting appear uneven. Additionally, the artificial strands did not match the reddish-blonde shade of her natural hair — a detail that did not go unnoticed by onlookers.

Nevertheless, the Bad Girl star was in high spirits as she accepted her award. The prize, established ten years ago, is presented to women who have revolutionized the big screen. Past recipients include Susan Sarandon and Salma Hayek.

Nicole stated that she would continue to use her platform to fight for gender equality in the film industry.
“I’m simply advocating for women and want to keep doing just that. I’m proud to join the list of remarkable women who’ve received this award before me — artists and trailblazers I truly admire. The Cannes Film Festival has been a part of my life for more than 30 years, and I’m delighted to add this incredible recognition to the many memories I’ve made here,” Kidman said from the stage.

The actress explained that in 2017 she vowed to support women in film by working with a female director every 18 months. Since then, she has collaborated with 27 women on various projects — some of which are still in development.
