Kelly Clarkson is facing renewed backlash over past remarks about how she disciplines her children. In a 2018 interview with Atlanta’s 94.1 radio station, the Grammy-winning singer admitted she occasionally spanks her kids, emphasizing that her intent is never to cause harm. “I’m not above a spanking,” she said, clarifying that she doesn’t hit hard and sees it as a form of discipline she herself experienced growing up.

At the time, Clarkson explained that she always gives her children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, a warning beforehand. “I tell her, ‘If you don’t stop, I’m going to spank you on your bottom. This is ridiculous,’” she noted. She also acknowledged that her approach isn’t always well-received in public settings, saying, “People think it’s wrong, but I don’t find anything wrong with it.”
While the topic initially stirred controversy years ago, it has resurfaced recently on social media—particularly as Clarkson prepares to release a new album and following her divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Many fans are reigniting the debate, questioning whether spanking is ever an acceptable parenting method.
