It was Rosa who was pregnant, as she had been in a relationship with a man, but Josephine had to go through all the pregnancy discomforts. Since they were conjoined, she experienced morning sickness and labor pains.
The baby was born strong and healthy. They didn’t take long to choose a name—they named him after his father. Since both sisters could nurse, they took turns with the motherly duties.

In 1922, it was revealed that Josephine was seriously ill. In order to save Rosa, doctors suggested surgery, but the sister refused. She believed that since they were born together, they should die together.
And so, it happened. The time difference between their deaths was only 12 minutes.
