In Japan, a man who had spent ten years diligently saving to fulfill his dream of owning a Ferrari experienced a devastating tragedy: just an hour after his first drive, the brand-new car was completely destroyed by fire.
The 33-year-old Tokyo resident, named Honkon, had just become the proud owner of a coveted Ferrari 458 Spider. Without delay, he set off on his debut drive along the Shuto Expressway — but it quickly turned into a nightmare.

While driving, he noticed clouds of white smoke, initially mistaking them for exhaust from a nearby vehicle. However, when the other car left his field of vision, it became clear the smoke was coming from his own Ferrari.
He pulled over to the shoulder, exited the vehicle, and called emergency services. For the next 20 minutes, all he could do was helplessly watch as his long-awaited dream car was reduced to ashes.

“I think I’m the only person in Japan who’s experienced something like this. I spent 43 million yen ($306,000), and all I got was a photo,” Honkon wrote on social media.
Police confirmed there were no signs of a crash or collision. The investigation is ongoing, but the preliminary cause is believed to be an engine compartment fire.
