The heir to the British throne and his wife relaxed on the exclusive private island of Mustique. The ultra-exclusive resort is a favorite destination for the couple due to its high level of privacy. Access to the island is restricted to special passes, there are no paparazzi, and drone flights are prohibited. Additionally, the island attracts such famous and wealthy individuals that Kate and William blend in with the crowd and can feel comfortable.
The Prince and Princess of Wales rented a luxurious villa costing $48,000 per week. Sources close to the couple revealed that this became their second honeymoon after a challenging year in which Kate battled cancer.
Kate and William spent a lot of time at their favorite bar, “Basilik,” located on the beach. “They are regulars here and threw some fun parties,” said the bartender. The couple had a hidden corner booth near the TV. “This is Will’s spot, right by the TV in the corner, so he could watch sports. He loves the games. He also likes vodka and cranberry juice. Nothing fancy, although we have frozen berries, all kinds of drinks, and signature rum punches you could wish for. He prefers simplicity,” added the bar staff.
Locals shared that the Prince made the most of the time he and Kate spent away from the public eye. The couple socialized with guests at the Cotton House, the only commercial hotel on the island. “They spent quite a bit of time there, relaxing by the pool. They had a few bodyguards in case something happened, but of course, nothing happened — everyone here respects each other’s privacy. Kate and William could relax, eat, drink, swim, and socialize with other guests of the island,” an insider revealed.
The Prince and Princess of Wales timed their trip to coincide with the Mustique Blues festival, where they actively danced. “Of course, they let loose, even Kate. They drank and danced all night. It’s a party, a music festival, it’s always fun,” said a waiter.
Thanks to the island’s strict privacy policy, the royal couple remained unnoticed by the media. Locals also try not to spread too much about the influential people who vacation on Mustique. “I don’t want other guests to hear us talk about them. But I’ll tell you, they tipped generously. Of course, they take care of us just as we take care of them,” a local said.
An insider also revealed that Kate Middleton sipped cocktails and charmed the islanders with her easygoing nature and healthy glow. “Kate fit in so naturally. She could shop at the small grocery store, and no one bothered her. They have a whole team of butlers and chefs, but Kate always does the shopping herself,” said the source.
The royal couple brought their children on the vacation — 11-year-old George, 9-year-old Charlotte, and 6-year-old Louis. Kate’s parents, Carol and Michael Middleton, joined the family as well. They looked after the grandchildren when the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted some time alone. “Carol stayed at the villa with the kids, so Kate and William could slip away and enjoy the party, as well as spend time together,” added the insider.
