Recently, Friend co-stars Bill Murray and Naomi Watts appeared as guests on Andy Cohen’s talk show to promote their new film. During the interview, the 74-year-old Murray displayed shocking familiarity with the married 56-year-old Watts. When a viewer called in and asked the actress to name her best on-screen kiss, Naomi barely had time to respond before Murray suddenly leaned in and kissed her on the lips, holding her face in his hands.
It seems the kiss was unscripted, as Watts appeared visibly confused after breaking free from Murray’s embrace, while the actor seemed pleased with himself, giving a thumbs-up to the camera.
“You have lipstick on your face,” Watts joked. “Did I blush?”
To which the Ghostbusters star replied, “That was too easy.”
Murray’s improvised kiss quickly sparked outrage online, with many users calling his behavior outright harassment and labeling the actor as “disgusting.”
“I feel so bad that she had to pretend everything was fine after that disgusting act.”
“He just humiliated her live on air.”
“She had that look on her face like after a death grip… poor Naomi.”
“Honestly, I’d have vomited if I were in her shoes,” fans expressed in their outrage.
By the way, Naomi considers her kiss with husband Billy Crudup to be her best on-screen kiss. She attended the recent Friend premiere with him.
