Last weekend, a 12-year-old girl in the UK gave birth to a 7lb baby girl, making her and her 13-year-old boyfriend the youngest parents in the country’s history. According to The Sun, she became pregnant at just 11, while still in primary school, shortly after starting a relationship with a boy living nearby in North London. The couple now holds the record for the lowest combined age of any British parents.
A source close to the family shared with The Sun that the pair, who have been in a relationship for over a year, are “totally in love” and plan to raise their newborn daughter together. “Both sets of grandparents are incredibly supportive. It’s a tough situation given how young the parents are, but their families are fully behind them,” the source said.
“The baby’s mum and dad have been together for more than a year, so it’s not just a fleeting romance. They intend to stick together and raise their daughter as a family. They’re very into each other, totally in love. She believes it’s true love, and they want to get married.”
The young mother, who still lives with her 27-year-old mother (one of the UK’s youngest grandmothers), hopes to return to school this September.
