George and Amal Clooney are fully embracing their new life in New York City, and they couldn’t be happier.
A source reveals exclusively, “George and Amal have been really enjoying their time in NYC. They don’t usually spend much time here, so they’ve been catching up with a lot of people. They both work during the day, and the twins, Alexander and Ella, are with them too.”
At 63, George is making his Broadway debut in Good Night, and Good Luck, the stage adaptation of his 2005 film, while Amal, 47, continues her work on various international causes through the United Nations.
But it’s not all about work for the Clooneys. “They’ve hosted a few dinner parties for friends at home,” the insider adds. “They enjoy their private date nights together.”
Ahead of the April 3 opening of his Broadway show, George opened up about his relationship with Amal. “I’m proud to be in the same room with her. I’m proud to be her husband. I’m proud to be the father of kids with her,” he shared.
George also reflected on the passage of time, especially as a father. “I had this conversation with Amal when I turned 60,” he explained to the New York Times. “I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90. That’s a real number.’ My dad just hit that. And there are some things you’re not doing no matter how many granola bars you eat.”
He added, “I told Amal, ‘We have to focus on the next 20, 25 years, making sure we’re fitting everything in. Not just work, because no one at the end of their life says, ‘I wish I worked more.’”
Ultimately, the Clooneys are thankful to have found each other. “There’s something about finding the person you needed to find, especially at a certain age, and from that point on, everything’s easy,” says George.
