Farmer Plants 1,000 Oak Trees in Loving Memory of His Late Wife

A farmer’s enduring love for his late wife is beautifully memorialized in a heart-shaped grove of 1,000 oak trees, a tribute that remained hidden for 17 years.

In 1995, Winston Howes, a farmer from Gloucestershire, England, embarked on a heartfelt mission to honor his late wife, Janet, by planting 1,000 oak trees on his land. This thoughtful gesture created a peaceful and lasting tribute to their love.

For many years, the grove existed as a private memorial, quietly appreciated by neighbors, though its true meaning was known to only a few.

In 2012, an aerial photo revealed a stunning surprise: a heart-shaped clearing at the center of the grove, strategically oriented to face Janet’s childhood home.
