The Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary celebration brought together stars like Ashley McBryde, Post Malone, Reba McEntire, and Carrie Underwood, who became a member on March 15, 2008. During the event, Carrie was deeply touched when Randy Travis, who had invited her to join the Opry, surprised her on stage.
As part of the tribute to Randy, Carrie performed two of his legendary songs, “Three Wooden Crosses” and “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
The emotional performance brought many in the audience, including Randy’s wife, Mary Davis, to tears. Randy, who had suffered a stroke years earlier, sang the final “Amen,” earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
