Hugh Jackman Becomes Entangled in the Controversy Involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

The 37-year-old Hollywood star filed a lawsuit in December against her 41-year-old co-star from the film All We Have is Us. Blake Lively accuses Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment on set. In response, Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against the actress and her 48-year-old husband, Ryan Reynolds. The court hearing is scheduled for March 29, 2026.

Lively has garnered support not only from her husband but also from their influential Hollywood friends in her battle against the actor and director of Italian descent. It was revealed that Hugh Jackman, the Oscar nominee, will testify in the case. The Wolverine star shares a long friendship with Ryan, having starred together in the 2024 film Deadpool and Wolverine.

“Jackman will give his testimony before the trial begins because Baldoni’s legal team wants to get a full picture of Reynolds’ behavior during the filming. If the case goes to trial, Hugh will have no choice but to testify, as he would be barred from working otherwise,” an insider shared.

Depositions are part of the pretrial process, where witnesses are questioned under oath. This helps lawyers prepare the case for trial but doesn’t automatically mean the case will go to court. It’s already clear whose side the Australian actor is on. “Since Jackman is a good friend of Ryan’s and has spent time alone with Blake, his testimony will likely be pivotal. They won’t leave any stone unturned,” the source added.

Brian Friedman, the lawyer for the Italian actor, mentioned on Megyn Kelly’s show that Reynolds included several subtle references in Deadpool and Wolverine to mock the alleged harasser of his wife. The character of Nayspule had a ponytail hairstyle, similar to one Baldoni wore recently. The character also made remarks about his social activism, which was another clear reference to the actor. Additionally, the character commented on Lively’s character’s pregnancy, which some perceived as another obvious dig at the couple’s opponent.

“There’s no way Hugh didn’t know about this. Ryan Reynolds used his power and influence to ridicule Justin. There’s no doubt this is connected to my client. The bun hairstyle, the comment about pregnancy—it’s obvious what’s going on. If your wife is being sexually harassed, you wouldn’t be laughing about it—you take it very seriously. The last thing you should do is mock the person and turn it into a joke,” Friedman stated.

It’s likely that Taylor Swift, who has been friends with Blake for over 10 years, will also be subpoenaed to testify. Swift is the godmother to the couple’s daughters—10-year-old James, 8-year-old Ines, and 5-year-old Betty. The 35-year-old singer has been mentioned in legal documents from both parties in the heated dispute. Justin claimed that Lively had involved her friend to pressure him into rewriting the script. However, during this time, Swift has not been seen in public with the actress, suggesting the Grammy winner is actively trying to distance herself from the high-profile conflict.
