A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Kimberly Burch, fiancée of Faster Pussycat frontman Taime Downe, is feared dead after falling overboard from an ’80s-themed cruise that departed Miami on March 2. She was 56.
Kimberly’s mother, Carnell Burch, revealed that her daughter had been excited for the cruise and that Taime had called her on March 3 with the devastating news. Reports indicate that Kimberly’s body has not yet been found.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean stated, “Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
A U.S. Coast Guard representative confirmed the incident occurred approximately 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas. A helicopter crew and other personnel were dispatched to aid the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in their search efforts.
The cruise had featured performances from Faster Pussycat, along with other artists such as Squeeze, Adam Ant, Tiffany, and Men at Work.
Taime and Kimberly had been together since 2015, celebrating their second anniversary in 2017 with a post on her Instagram. Just before the cruise, the couple had enjoyed a special Valentine’s Day together. Taime shared his love on Instagram, saying, “I had a beautiful #valentinesday with my love and better half @burchkimberly.
We ate candy and cupcakes. I’m a lucky man!” Kimberly, in turn, expressed her deep affection for him, writing, “From your first hello to me I fell head over heels in love. You are my Valentine every day of my life. We are a tornado at times and pure raw love. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We do us like no other. I love you with my entire heart and soul.”
Just a day before the tragedy, Kimberly shared a joyful selfie with Taime on Instagram, saying, “We made it to @the80scruise.”
