Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl, has tragically passed away at 39.
Trachtenberg was found deceased in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle on Wednesday morning by her mother. It’s reported that the actress had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications, though her death is believed to be of natural causes and is not considered suspicious by authorities.
Trachtenberg’s fans had expressed concern for her health in recent months, after she posted several troubling pictures on social media showing her frail appearance. She had been active on Instagram up until her death, sharing nostalgic throwbacks, selfies, and moments with her boyfriend, talent agent Jay Cohen.
In addition to her iconic TV roles, Trachtenberg was involved in various projects, including her 2021 executive producer and hosting role in the true-crime docuseries Meet, Marry, Murder. She also had a voice role on Robot Chicken in 2018.
Known for her start in acting at age three on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Michelle also gained recognition for her role in EuroTrip and other television appearances. Throughout her career, she received accolades such as a Young Artist Award and Daytime Emmy nominations.
