62-year-old Richard Hernandez, originally from Texas and once a banker, decided to become the world’s first “genderless dragon.” Over the last ten years, he has made various body modifications to help him achieve this goal, transforming into a mythical creature. His body is now fully covered in tattoos and piercings, with a split tongue and a nose resembling Voldemort’s from the Harry Potter world.
Richard changed his name to Tiamat Legion Medusa, but some people refer to him as “Lady Dragon.” He also prefers to be addressed as “they” instead of “he,” explaining that he doesn’t identify with any gender. In an interview with YouTuber Anthony Padilla, Hernandez shared details of his transformation from a high-ranking financier into a true “freak.” He revealed that by the time he was 40, he already had 79 hidden piercings, but he wanted more noticeable tattoos and piercings. To achieve his desired appearance, he had to leave his career and spend $80,000—since tattoos and piercings alone were not enough.
Gradually, Hernandez got tattoos on his face, a split tongue, and horn implants on his head. But that still wasn’t enough—he later underwent a radical procedure to reshape his nose, explaining that he felt a “spiritual connection” to snakes and also had a love for Voldemort.
“When I first watched Harry Potter and saw Lord Voldemort as one of the characters, I instantly fell in love,” Richard explains. “I want to marry Lord Voldemort—we’d be such a wonderful couple,” he adds.
Now, the American has scale-like tattoos on his skin, the whites of his eyes are tattooed green, most of his teeth are missing, and a split tongue and several horns complete his fearsome appearance. To fully become a “genderless dragon,” he has already removed his testicles and plans to completely get rid of his genitalia. Additionally, Richard has an unusual hobby—suspending himself on meat hooks.
“I hang on hooks… the most hooks I’ve had in my body at once—50,” he says.
His unusual appearance has sparked plenty of criticism and negative reactions over the years. However, Richard doesn’t let that bother him, as he grew up in conservative South Texas and was openly gay, often dealing with bullies. He proudly mentions that he always emerged victorious from street fights.
Hernandez has an adult son who doesn’t approve of his father’s appearance experiments. “My relationship with my son has changed,” the American admitted. “By the time I started my transformation, my son was already 16, and he rejected me.” “My son has been out of my life for seven years, and I hope he at least watches me on the Internet. That’s why I use social media,” Richard added sadly.
