💔My colleague and I were on duty in one of the city’s districts when a little girl ran up to me and handed me a piece of pape😭r.

My colleague and I were on duty in one of the city’s districts when a little girl, about six years old, ran up to me. Her cheeks were red from the cold, and there was fear frozen in her big eyes. She hesitantly handed me a piece of paper, folded into four.

“You’re a police officer, right?” Her voice trembled. “Mom told me to give this to you.”

I unfolded the note.

“Take her to the orphanage. I don’t need her.”

For a moment, it felt like a cold wind had run down my spine. In my ten years of service, I had seen many things, but this… no, you can never get used to something like this.

I knelt down in front of the girl, trying to speak calmly, not wanting to scare her even more.

“What’s your name? Do you know where your mom is?”

She lowered her gaze, clutching the sleeve of her jacket tightly in her little fist.

After the little girl shared her story with me, my whole world collapsed. Here’s what happened ⬇️⬇️

“I only know her name is Olga,” she mumbled. “We lived at Aunt Lyuba’s house, but mom kept leaving, and Uncle Serёzha… he doesn’t like me. He yelled that if mom doesn’t leave me, he will leave her. I’m scared…”

These words cut deep into my heart. A little child who wasn’t wanted by her own mother…

I gently took the girl’s hand.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m with you now.”

She looked at me trustingly, and for a moment, a spark of hope flickered in her eyes.

I took her in, while we searched for any trace of her family. For a week, missing person notices about the girl flashed across all social media, on every channel… but no one came forward.

During this time, we became friends. At first, she would flinch in her sleep, sometimes cry, calling for her mom, and I would just sit beside her, gently stroking her hair and whispering that everything would be okay.

She began to change. She ate with appetite, learned to laugh, play, and one day, she came up to me and hugged me for the first time.

“Aunt, you won’t send me away, will you?” she asked quietly.

I hugged her tightly, and my heart tightened.

I couldn’t have children. That’s why my husband left me, and I lived alone for many years, trying not to think about the emptiness. And now, here was a child, one who also needed a family, someone who would love her…

Deep down, I already knew the answer.

Many years have passed since that day. I have a smart, beautiful daughter, and I am a happy mother. And if fate once brought her to me, then it was meant to be.
