Famous BAFTA nominee reveals why they’ve chosen to miss the ceremony.

After being nominated for a BAFTA for her role in The Last Showgirl, Jamie Lee Curtis has announced she won’t be attending the ceremony next month.

Curtis, who missed out on an Oscar nomination for the same role, shared the news on social media, explaining that due to work “delays” caused by the fires and COVID, she wouldn’t be able to make it to the British event.

In her post, she expressed sadness about missing the opportunity to represent The Last Showgirl and connect with others at the ceremony. She wrote, “Sad I will have to miss the gathering and getting the chance to represent @lastshowgirl. The fires and Covid have delayed work so I must miss the ceremony! XO JLC.”

Curtis has earned the affection of fans for her warm, supportive nature, and her promo tour for The Last Showgirl reflected that energy.

Reflecting on her casting in The Last Showgirl and Everything Everywhere All at Once, she shared with Forbes, “When Gia Coppola called me about The Last Showgirl with Pamela Anderson, I said yes immediately because I knew what Pamela was going to bring to the role. I didn’t even need to see the script. Same with Everything Everywhere — when I found out Michelle Yeoh was involved, I said yes right away because I wanted to work alongside such incredible women.”
