On January 7, the American city of Los Angeles was engulfed by massive wildfires. The fires are primarily affecting the city’s upscale neighborhoods, home to Hollywood stars. Some celebrities have been left without homes.
The wildfire was triggered by strong winds. The flames have spread over an area of more than 10,000 hectares and continue to grow rapidly.
Scientists are monitoring the situation using satellites, which help track the intensity and movement of the fire as well as the direction of the smoke. One of the satellite images was obtained by journalists.
As of now, the damage caused by the wildfire in Los Angeles amounts to $57 billion. The evacuation of 100,000 residents is underway. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also preparing to leave their estate in Santa Barbara.
