U.S. authorities are still struggling to gain control over the wildfires ravaging California. The flames are wreaking havoc in the prestigious neighborhoods of Pacific Palisades and Malibu, home to many celebrities. Among those affected is Paris Hilton. The 43-year-old reality TV star revealed that her Malibu home, overlooking the ocean, was completely destroyed by the fire.
Unfortunately, Paris had to watch the devastation unfold in real time on the news. “Sitting with my family, watching the news and seeing our Malibu home burn to the ground live on TV is something no one should have to experience,” she shared.
The actress and model is safe, and the destroyed home wasn’t her primary residence. She owns multiple properties, including a mansion in Beverly Hills. However, the loss has been a painful blow for Hilton. According to the social media star, she often spent time there with her husband, Carter Reum, their son Phoenix, and daughter London.
“I have so many precious memories of this home. This is where Phoenix took his first steps. Although the losses are huge, I am grateful that my family is safe. I am praying for every family affected by these fires, those who have lost their homes and their beloved pets. My heart breaks for those still in danger or mourning more significant losses,” added the Legally Blonde star.
Firefighters in California are still battling the rapidly spreading flames, fueled by strong winds, which have devastated large areas, destroyed homes, and forced tens of thousands of people to flee. Other celebrities who have already lost their homes include Anna Faris, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, James Woods, Eugene Levy, Miles and Kelli Teller, and John Goodman. The $6 million mansion of Sir Anthony Hopkins was also completely destroyed.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Hamill, and Mandy Moore were forced to evacuate their homes. Jamie Lee Curtis reported that while she and her family are safe, her neighborhood—and possibly her home—are burning. The 66-year-old Oscar winner noted that many of her friends have lost their properties and belongings. Mandy Moore shared that she’s trying to shield her children from the immense sadness and anxiety she’s currently feeling. “I’m so upset by the destruction and the losses. I don’t know if our house survived. It’s a terrifying situation, and I’m grateful to the firefighters and all the kind Samaritans who are helping people get out of the fire zone.”
Pacific Palisades is a hilly coastal area lined with celebrity mansions and immortalized in the Beach Boys’ 1960s hit “Surfin’ USA.” Other celebrities who own homes in this area include Adam Sandler, Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks, and Steven Spielberg. Many of them have evacuated and are anxiously awaiting news about the fate of their properties.
