She put off seeing a doctor for months because she didn’t have health insurance. It wasn’t until December 2021, when she completely lost vision in her left eye, that she sought help.
The diagnosis was shocking: three-quarters of her retina had been detached. Over the next three years, Geneveve underwent nine surgeries, including complex procedures to install a plastic “band” to hold her retina in place and laser removal of scar tissue. However, despite doctors’ efforts, in September 2024, the retina completely detached, resulting in complete loss of vision in her left eye.
The girl admits that the lack of timely diagnosis was her main shortcoming.
I knew something was wrong, but I convinced myself it was a small thing. Now I wake up every morning feeling guilty,

The difficult treatment process also took its toll on the model’s emotional state. Geneveve avoided meeting friends and stopped going out in public. The loss of favorite activities, such as skiing, was especially painful.
But now, despite the difficulties, the girl tries to find joy in new hobbies and encourages others not to ignore their health. Her story received wide publicity thanks to a video on TikTok, which has collected more than 144 thousand views.
