At her bone marrow donor’s wedding, this 3-year-old cancer survivor was a flower girl.

The touching tale of this 3-year-old cancer survivor who was a flower girl at her bone marrow donor’s wedding!

The caption was written by Joshua Bane, the photographer who captured this incredible moment:

On June 9, 2018, Hayden and Adrian tied the knot at Hartford, Alabama’s Shiloh Baptist Church. This is only the second wedding I have worked at that was held in a church, which may surprise you. The bride’s parents’ house hosted the reception, while the church served as the venue for the wedding. It was a homey, homely, and rustic sight.

I was able to learn a little bit about Hayden and her mother when we met at Bird and the Bean Coffee shop a while back to discuss their wedding video needs. One of my favorite methods to interact with my customers and learn about their needs is to be able to meet with them face-to-face to discuss specifics. These sessions are ideal in a coffee shop!

A brother-in-arms named Adrian is a member of the Air Force. For this reason alone, filming their wedding was an honor. I appreciate your service, Adrian.

During wedding week, I learned about a very touching feature that will be included in the wedding. At the rehearsal, Hayden had the opportunity to meet the young girl to whom he recently donated bone marrow. She was the flower girl as well. Being able to participate in and document unique situations like this is another reason I enjoy what I do.

Skye Savren-McCormick was the wedding’s flower girl. She practiced walking with a little basket in her living room as part of her preparations.

This young hero was ready to do the routine she had practiced, and she executed it with delight and ease on the wedding day.

The attendees at the wedding were struggling to stay composed. According to Jeannie Broadway, a wedding photographer, “not a dry eye was in the room.” “You could even hear people crying.”

Skye was given a 10% chance of survival by her doctors not long ago. She was diagnosed with pediatric cancer and required a bone marrow transplant to survive.

Hayden Hatfield Ryals, a complete stranger, offered to help her by asking this young woman to be the flower girl at the wedding.

People who witnessed the ceremony that day claim they will always remember it!

We are grateful to CNN for creating this touching film and to Joshua Bane for capturing the footage!
