“When I watched the film, I didn’t even know what to think. There’s so much nudity and sex that I thought, ‘Girl, I just want to pull you out of there and give you a big hug,'” Pamela shared in an episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors. She did, however, commend the young actress’s performance.
Anderson explained that she connected with the story of Anora because she had seen similar situations in real life. She knows people working in the sex industry who have tried to return to normal lives. The actress also related to the main character, as she had been the object of many men’s desires for many years.
