When American pensioner Almeda Errel went to the cemetery to see her son off on his final journey, she never thought she would find love there.

But just three weeks later, the 71-year-old woman stood at the altar and said “I do” to 17-year-old Gary Hardwick. Now the newlyweds live in Almeda’s house with one of her grandsons, who is only three years older than her new husband.

For now 18-year-old Gary, this kind of relationship is nothing new: he has previously dated a 77-year-old woman. It all started with his crush on a school teacher when he was 8 years old.

“I wasn’t looking for a younger man, but Gary came into my life,” says Almeda, a store clerk. “I just knew he was the one.”

This happiness fell on the head of a woman, a mother of four children, shortly after her husband died, and then her eldest 45-year-old son.

“I was married to my first husband for 43 years, and when he died in 2013 after seven months in hospital with complications from diabetes, I was all alone. I needed a soulmate.” Then her son died, and things only got worse.

Meanwhile, Gary was in an unhappy relationship with his 77-year-old girlfriend. “We were constantly arguing, I became depressed and was looking for a way out.”

“Age is just a number,” says the guy. What do you say?
