The 18-year-old granddaughter of Sophia Loren, the daughter of actress Sasha Alexander and the son of movie star Edoardo Ponti, Lucia Ponti attended the Parisian debutante ball at the luxurious Shangri-la Paris hotel for the first time. At the event, the Brown University student and Geneva native sparkled in a vintage lace striped dress by Giorgio Armani, which she accompanied with a spectacular necklace with diamonds and emeralds.
In an interview with HELLO!, Lucia admitted that her legendary 90-year-old grandmother developed her exquisite sense of style.
My grandmother always believed in timeless elegance and the importance of wearing something that reflects your true self. Growing up, she taught me to appreciate simplicity and always add a touch of uniqueness to your outfit.
According to Lucia, her famous grandmother’s wardrobe is “full of things with history,” and the girl tries to take the same approach when choosing clothes.
I tend to choose dresses or clothes that I feel confident in, but also comfortable in. I looked at other dresses that had been presented at the debutante ball in previous years, and they were all individually very beautiful additions to the girls’ looks. I was just hoping to find a dress that would look just as good on me.
Lucia also shared more about her relationship with Sophie, who currently lives in Switzerland.
“My grandmother and I are very close,” she emphasized. “We often visit her in Geneva, and she also comes to visit us in Los Angeles. I love her very much, and despite the distance, we spend a lot of time together.
