The British actress, whose talent and charm have long been synonymous with words like “grandeur” and “classics,” continues to surprise. This time, however, the source of surprise is not the screenwriters or directors, but her pet. The bird calls Judi Dench “a slut” and “a prostitute.” Well, if you’re an Oscar winner, it seems you can handle anything—even feathered criticism.
“We just had a long conversation. Please don’t ask what she said. She says, ‘You’re a slut,’ ‘You’re a prostitute.’ She once said ‘Boris Johnson,’ but that wasn’t from me. She listens to the radio,” confessed the 89-year-old actress, clearly amused by her pet’s lively communication.

The parrot, named Sweetie, doesn’t stop at just insulting her. It has also offended Dench’s housekeeper and even her grandson’s friend. And her timing is impeccable. “The parrot was a Christmas gift during the pandemic. It was quiet for a while but then suddenly started saying these phrases,” the actress explained, still a little bewildered by the bird’s antics.
Judi admitted that she would never part with such a unique pet. “She’s very funny, very entertaining. Everyone should get a parrot. Their voices are amazing,” added the actress, known for her roles in James Bond films. And why not? With a bird like Sweetie, life is certainly never boring.
Dench also touched on her upcoming milestone birthday. “You get a little nervous when everyone talks about 90. I don’t want to think too much about 90, I’m going to think about being 29,” she said with a smile, clearly not focused on her age.

When asked about her state of mind ahead of the anniversary, the actress revealed that she feels very happy. “At least I can get from A to B, and I have so much to be grateful for,” she added.

At 89, Judi Dench set a “glamour” record by becoming the oldest person ever to grace the cover of a fashion magazine. She previously participated in an intimate photoshoot as part of a charity campaign. The actress lost her first husband, actor Michael Williams, in 2001 to lung cancer. However, in 2010, Judi found love again with David Mills, a farmer and environmentalist.
