David Wilburn Parton, Dolly’s brother, passed away at the age of 82. His sister, Stella Parton, shared the sad news on Friday, November 15, through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Stella, 75, wrote, “My brother David passed away peacefully this morning. He received his angel wings and is now at peace, but saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy.” In another post on Facebook, she added, “My brother David left us this morning, granted his angel wings. Rest in peace, amazing soul. I will always love you.”
According to an obituary, David, also known as David W. Parton, passed away at his home in White Pine, Tennessee, on November 15. The cause of death was not disclosed. Dolly, 78, has not publicly commented on her brother’s death as of now.
David worked as a superintendent and bridge builder for Simpson Construction, serving the areas of Knoxville, Johnson City, and Kingsport in Tennessee. His family expressed special gratitude to Dr. David McNabney of Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, his caregiver Aubrie Smith, and Robin Schmidt for their support.
David was the second oldest of 11 siblings, including Randy, Larry, and Floyd, who have passed away. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, two daughters, Donna and Dena, a nephew/son named Lucas, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
David, who preferred to live outside the spotlight, will be remembered by his family, who are holding a funeral at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine on Tuesday, November 19. The funeral is open to family and friends.
David’s passing comes nearly four years after his brother Randy died from cancer in 2021 at the age of 67 and six years after his brother Floyd passed away in 2018 at 61. In a tribute to Randy, Dolly had shared, “Though we know dad is in a better place, we are still grieving his passing. We believe in God’s protection and that our deceased family members have embraced him with joy and open arms.”
