The 55-year-old musician, whose real name is Brian Warner, dropped his defamation lawsuit and the related appeal. He promised to pay over $327,000 in legal fees to Evan Rachel Wood.
“After four years of fighting, during which he was finally able to tell the truth, Brian is glad to dismiss all still pending lawsuits and appeals in order to close this chapter of his life,” his lawyers stated.
The artist’s legal team also mentioned his proposal to publish a joint statement with Wood and keep the terms of their agreement confidential. However, Wood declined this option.
Wood’s representatives view the lawsuit, which included defamation claims, as an attempt by Marilyn Manson to preserve his face and reputation. The lawsuit was filed after his former partner accused him of domestic abuse.
“As correctly determined by the court of first instance, Manson’s claims were baseless. His decision to finally drop the lawsuit and pay the full amount of $327,000 to cover Wood’s expenses only confirms this,” representatives of Evan Rachel Wood a.
Marilyn Manson was also accused of rape, with the alleged victim stating that she was 16 years old at the time.
