In January, Jim Carrey surprised everyone with a new look – long hair reaching his shoulders. It turned out that the actor had been growing his hair for 1.5 years but shaved it off without hesitation. A video showing Jim going from a long-haired look to bald went viral.
The 63-year-old actor explained in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly that he shaved his head for his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, where he reprises his role as the main antagonist, Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
The viral video shows Carrey being shaved by his co-star from the movie, Lee Maibub. “We’re shooting Sonic 3, and I just cut Jim Carrey’s hair on camera. It was so much fun, and he trusted me to do it,” Maibub happily shared in the video.

Carrey confirmed that he shaved off the hair he had been growing for 1.5 years.
“The doctor is back,” Jim added, touching his freshly shaved head.
