Eva Longoria has been happily married to José Bastón for over eight years, and it seems their love is built on more than just romance. The 49-year-old actress shared that one of the key factors in their strong relationship is how they define their roles. Eva confessed that she doesn’t see José as her “best friend” but as a true life partner. The couple began dating in 2013 and tied the knot three years later in a stunning ceremony in Mexico. On June 19, 2018, they welcomed their son, Santiago Enrique Bastón. Eva has long spoken fondly of José, sharing the secrets to their lasting bond.
“He makes me laugh, and he’s truly a great partner,” she said in an interview with *Daily Mail*. “He supports me in everything I do, and I support him in everything he does. We don’t compete for attention or fame.”
For Eva, it was especially important that José, a successful businessman, is a private person. He avoids the spotlight so much that they agreed almost never to feature him on her social media.
“He hates social media,” Eva laughed. “He once told me, ‘Please don’t post me on your blog.’ That’s why he rarely appears on my social media. I occasionally try to sneak him in, but he prefers to stay away.”
Despite his dislike for public attention, José is happy to support Eva in her celebrity career.
“He loves it when I’m on the red carpet. He just doesn’t want to be there with me,” she explained. “It’s important for me to be with someone who doesn’t need constant validation that we’re together or need to be on the red carpet. He’s just a very kind partner.”
When asked if José fulfills the role of her “best friend,” Eva was quick to clarify that she sees these concepts differently.
“No, I have best friends,” she said. “He doesn’t need to fill that role. Those are different relationships. My best friends are my best friends, and I turn to them for certain things. My husband is my partner, and he’s here for a different role. He really excels in that role in my life.”
The couple has a 6-year-old son, Santiago, and recently, their family made a major life change by moving to Spain.
