Born with a rare condition called osteogenesis imperfecta, Stacey Herold faced numerous challenges.She was only 71 centimeters tall and was confined to a wheelchair for most of her life.
In 2000, fate brought Stacy together with Will Herald, who became her husband. They met in a small supermarket in the town of Dry Ridge, where they both worked.
Will, a meter taller than his chosen one and nine years younger than her, saw in Stacey not only her appearance but also her enormous spiritual strength. Four years later they got married.
From the very beginning, doctors predicted that their family would not be complete: they assured her that Stacey was not capable of bearing a child. These words caused her deep pain.
When the couple finally decided to get pregnant, many, including Stacey’s mother, warned her against such a step, considering it dangerous for her life. But Stacey and Will did not back down.
Stacey gave birth to her first daughter, Katherine, in 2006 at 28 weeks of pregnancy by Caesarean section. The girl inherited her mother’s illness.
In 2008, her second daughter, Makaya, was born. This time, the pregnancy was more difficult: the fetus developed quickly, and Stacey said with a smile that she began to look like a big ball. Fortunately, Makaya was born completely healthy.
In 2009, the family was expanded by a son, Malachi. Like his older sister, he inherited Stacey’s disease.
Stacey set a unique record by entering the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest woman to give birth to three children.
Sadly, Stacy Herold passed away in 2022 at the age of 44.
