The Hollywood actor with Irish roots has made shorts his signature look in everyday outfits. Paul Mescal is often seen walking or jogging in shorts, a hoodie, and headphones. The star of *Gladiator 2* recently spoke with radio listeners, and one of his youngest fans, five-year-old Lily, asked him a question. She wanted to know why Paul always wears such short shorts. The question caught the actor off guard. “I bet your mom suggested that question,” Paul jokingly replied.
However, the up-and-coming actor didn’t shy away from answering the girl’s question. “Lily, these are athletic shorts. They weren’t made this short just for me. They’re really practical for exercising and perfect for running,” Mescal explained.

Paul Mescal appeared at the London premiere of Ridley Scott’s film, which was unexpectedly attended by King Charles III. The Oscar-nominated actor was supported by his parents, Paul and Dearbhla, as well as his brother Donnagh and sister Nell. His 21-year-old sister wore a shimmering strapless dress and brown stilettos, watching her older brother with a proud smile. Paul has a very close relationship with his family. Recently, he purchased property in his native Ireland to spend more time with them outside of his work commitments. The actor has been a main source of support for his mother, who battled cancer.

In *Gladiator 2*, Paul stars alongside Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and other big names. “Working on this film has been one of the most exciting moments of my life so far. Going to work every day with Sir Ridley Scott behind the camera is a good day, no matter the context,” Mescal shared.
The theater and film actor also revealed that he gained 10 kilograms over six months for his role as Commodus Lucius. His training routine included four full meals a day and six gym sessions a week. Afterward, he had to lose 12 kilograms for his role in *The Sound of History*. “It was just absolutely brutal,” Mescal admitted.
