When choosing clothes, when applying for a job, or even when going to a restaurant, overweight people often face discrimination. Intentional or not, the looks can be offensive and cause complexes in the person being looked at.
Marie Southard Osina shares her experience as a plus-size woman who went to the beach one day.

With the arrival of warm days and beach holidays, many women go on a diet. Unlike them, Marie decided not to follow the example of other women, on the contrary, she was sure that everyone should feel confident enough in their body and wear swimsuits.
So, while on holiday in Spain, she decided to wear a two-piece swimsuit for the first time, showing off her curves, cellulite, stretch marks and scars. Together with her beloved, she walked along a crowded beach and noticed different reactions.

Some were neutral or positive: people didn’t look at her or smiled widely at her. Of course, there were also negative, judgmental looks.
The girl talks about one of the most memorable negative behaviors she encountered: a couple of young people who laughed at her.
As Marie walked along the beach, a young man saw her and suppressed his laughter, then forced his girlfriend to look at her too. They openly expressed their contempt.

Luckily, Marie’s experience wasn’t entirely negative, as she noticed that many overweight women were wearing the same swimsuits, and humorously claims that she’s probably been going to the wrong beaches all this time!
