You Can Buy a House for $1 in This Picturesque Italian Village – On One Condition

You Can Buy a House in This Picturesque Italian Village for Just $1. But There’s One Condition You Must Meet. Here’s What You Need to Do.

The town of Sambuca in Italy is currently selling houses for one euro, which is about $1.14.

The hill town, which offers postcard-quality views of the Mediterranean, is now offering dozens of homes at rock-bottom prices.

According to Giuseppe Chacioppo, deputy mayor and tourism adviser, they are effectively giving away these houses to revive the city after its population declined as people moved to the cities.

“Unlike other cities, which only use it for advertising purposes, the city hall owns all the houses that are sold for 1 euro. You want this house – you will get it without any problems.”

The houses are built of stone or red brick and have an area of 40 to 150 square meters. However, there is one condition for those wishing to buy one of these houses, which is associated with additional costs.

Most of the houses are in poor condition and owners must repair the property within 3 years at a cost of at least €15,000, or about $17,100.

To buy the home, owners must also put down a deposit of 5,000 euros, or about $5,700, which they can get back once the renovations are completed.

If you are interested in buying one of these homes, you better hurry, as demand is very high. According to Chacioppo, about 10 houses have already been sold, and foreigners are flocking to the city, completely captivated by its beauty.
