According to a representative from a real estate agency, Richard Gere is no longer the owner of his Connecticut ranch, which had been his primary residence in the U.S. He no longer needs the property, as the actor, who was born and raised in the U.S., has made the decision to move to Spain. Gere sold the ranch, which he had purchased just two years ago to replace his previous mansion, for a substantial sum of $10.75 million.
As for Gere’s reasons for moving to Spain, the actor explained that his decision was largely driven by his wife. Alejandro Silva, his third wife, is a native of Spain. However, she had previously moved to the U.S. out of love for Gere, leaving behind her beloved homeland. Naturally, she had missed Spain, and according to Gere, she showed remarkable generosity by living in his country for the first six years of their marriage. Now, he wants to repay her by relocating to her homeland.
To recall, Gere and Silva began their relationship in 2014 after meeting at a party hosted by mutual friends. Four years later, they married in Gere’s former estate in New York. Despite their 35-year age difference—Richard is 75, while she is 41—the couple formed a family. Six months after their wedding, Silva became pregnant and gave birth to a son, Alejandro, in February 2019. A year later, they welcomed another son, James. Now, Gere’s children will be moving to Spain with their parents and adjusting to life in a new country.
