Emma revealed that at the onset of Bruce’s illness, when no one yet understood what was happening, he suddenly began to stutter. She initially thought it was a recurrence of his childhood stuttering, as the 69-year-old actor had speech difficulties during his teenage years.
“For Bruce, it all started with his speech,” Emma explained. Two years ago, the actor’s family announced that he had aphasia, which forced him to step away from acting. A year later, it was revealed that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a condition that often presents with symptoms like aphasia.

Emma admitted that at first, she didn’t immediately notice his stuttering, as he had experienced speech issues intermittently before. “When his speech began to change, it seemed like just a part of the stuttering; it was simply regular Bruce. I would never have thought this could be a form of dementia in such a young person,” she lamented.

The couple has two daughters: Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10. The girls noticed their father’s problems even before his diagnosis was revealed. “I never tried to sugarcoat anything for them. They grew up, and Bruce’s condition worsened over the years. I’m not trying to shield them from this,” she explained.

Bruce Willis is also supported by his ex-wife. Demi Moore frequently visits him with their daughters, making sure he isn’t left alone. Their daughter, Tallulah Willis, has been given a challenging diagnosis: she was found to be autistic at the age of 29.
