Penelope Cruz has acted as a photographer, capturing her husband Javier Bardem for Gentleman’s Journal magazine.
A rather innocuous portrait photo was chosen for the cover, in which the 55-year-old actor looks sternly at the camera in a Paul Smith T-shirt worth £135
But the next shots were taken by 50-year-old Cruz in the bathroom: with his back to the lens, Javier is taking a shower completely naked.
The Spaniard also tried on a burgundy Tod’s jumper, Brunello Cucinelli corduroy trousers and other stylish outfits.
In an interview, Bardem spoke about the differences between working in Hollywood and his native Spain. “I feel less self-conscious when I work in English, because in your native language, words have a lot of weight. The memories and experiences that go with those words, and the images that they bring you to. <…> It’s easier for me to say certain heavy words, heavy thoughts, or deep reflections in English than in Spanish.”
