We surprised our grandmother and renovated her old kitchen in an old building. The result is gorgeous.

It’s a joy to give up an outdated kitchen. So the grandchildren decided to please their granny by replacing the tired kitchen with a brand new one. However, they were too keen on modern design, and the kitchen turned out to be too fashionable for her taste.

Instead of a traditional kitchen set, modern drawers and shelves appeared, as well as an old compact refrigerator and a simple sink. It was high time to replace the wallpaper, which had lost its original beauty.

Even the dining area seemed outdated, with all the Soviet-era furniture.

After the remodeling, the kitchen’s appearance changed radically. The main colors are white and black, with wood elements. The white upper cabinets contrast with the black lower ones. Contrasting shades make the interior stylish and up-to-date. The wooden table creates harmony with the rest of the furniture. The white brick-style tiles match the design perfectly. The dark appliances and sink enhance the contrast.

From a practical point of view, the kitchen has all the amenities: a refrigerator, a microwave, a built-in oven and an induction hob. There is plenty of light thanks to a chandelier and built-in lighting.

The dining area looks elegant. A white round table, accompanied by two chairs and stools, harmonizes with the design. We decided to leave the wall near the table unpainted, decorating it with wallpaper. Two bright paintings added coziness. The floor is decorated with gray tiles.

While the new kitchen looks impressive, it may be too modern for the older generation. The dark tones may be too stark for Grandma; perhaps she would have preferred a more neutral shade, like beige. Still, the result is strikingly elegant.
