The English actress began dating the journalist five years ago. The couple kept their relationship private. Now, friends of Kristin Scott Thomas and John Micklethwait have shared the joyful news — the two have become husband and wife.
The 64-year-old star of “The English Patient” and the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg held a secret ceremony. Family members and close friends attended the wedding. Friends of the newlyweds assured that the actress and her partner are incredibly well-matched.

“They’re the perfect couple. Both are intelligent, witty, and curious, and they’re devoted to each other. We’re all so happy they got married after a wonderful five-year romance,” a family friend told The Independent.
The Oscar-nominated actress was previously married for 17 years to François Olivennes, a French specialist in gynecology and reproductive medicine. They have three children — 36-year-old Hannah, 33-year-old Joseph, and 24-year-old Kristin. The former spouses have remained on good terms since their separation in 2005.

After the divorce, Scott Thomas rarely spoke about her personal life. The actress ironically remarked that her nomadic lifestyle makes it difficult to build close relationships. “It’s incredibly hard to maintain a relationship when you have a lifestyle like mine. I’m never in one place for more than a few weeks,” Kristin stated.

For many years, the actress has been passionate about gender equality issues. In one interview, she recalled a situation that infuriated her: during filming, the director urged her to be more “attractive.” Kristin noted that she shouldn’t have to please everyone just because she is a woman.
