New circumstances have emerged in the case of the author of the hit “I Believe I Can Fly”. In the documentary series “Karma: A Daughter’s Journey”, Dooku Abi, the eldest of R. Kelly’s three children, claims that her father molested her when she was 8 or 9 years old.
I remember waking up with him touching me. I didn’t know what to do, so I just lay there and pretended to be asleep, – Abi recalls with tears in her eyes.
Young Abi only had the courage to tell her mother everything when she turned 10. She admits that at times she herself could not believe what had happened to her, because her father was “everything” to her.
I was too scared to tell anyone. I was too scared to tell my mother.

R. Kelly’s ex-wife reacted to the terrible revelations of her little daughter with lightning speed. She immediately stopped communicating with her children and filed a police report. But the Illinois Department of Children and Families did not consider the grounds for opening a case to be sufficient. The rapper remained free, and Abi has been painfully reliving what happened all these years. At one point, the girl admits, she was even ready to commit suicide. The remaining traces of cuts on her wrist are a reminder of this.

R. Kelly’s lawyer categorically denies all of Abi’s accusations. Let us recall that the three-time Grammy Award winner was convicted of human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, racketeering, and child pornography in 2022. The musician was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
