A retired couple built a completely self-contained 17m² mobile home

This compact mobile home offers all the necessary amenities for comfortable travel. The owners are retired people who decided to satisfy their dream of an independent cottage on wheels, equipped with all the vital systems. To realize their idea, they turned to the Madeiguincho studio.

“We needed a house with solar panels, a rainwater collection and recycling system, and autonomous water drainage,” the owners emphasize.

The 17-meter house is built on a wooden frame and contains built-in furniture and convenient storage systems. The high ceilings make the room feel spacious.

Large glass doors and a narrow window above fill the space with light and provide a view of nature. Wooden vertical blinds moderate the penetration of direct sunlight. Roller blinds are used for privacy.

The kitchen has a refrigerator and a two-burner stove. The washbasin was handcrafted from Portuguese stone. In the future, there are plans to install a small wood-burning stove in the living room.

A staircase with built-in drawers and cabinets underneath leads to the upper level, where the sleeping area is located. The living room has a fold-out sofa for two.

At the end of the house there is a bathroom with a shower and a panoramic window.

The adjacent space serves technical purposes and is hidden behind a door.
