WHEN IT CAME TIME TO SELL MY HUSBAND’S HOUSE, I was away and didn’t realize the value of the furniture and decorative items that were reminiscent of his family’s past. Not only did these items carry history, but they also provided a great opportunity for creativity! Although I had long had the idea of preserving items from my husband’s childhood, thanks to my mother-in-law, it became a reality. She saved a couple of old chairs, nightstands, and many other small items that I later transformed.

Here are some of my works:
Restored chest.

Cans before and after renovation.

Kerosene lamps, now in excellent condition.

A completely updated chair (unfortunately, the “before” photo is missing, but the difference is huge!).

Anyone can give a second life to old things by integrating them into their home!
How I transformed an old nightstand:
Cleaned the surface thoroughly;
I used a product to remove old varnish because it started to peel off;
I removed the remaining product and lightly sanded the surface;
I cleaned the cabinet from dust with a wet cloth;
I filled in all the defects and cracks;
My husband replaced the old legs with new, longer ones;
I primed the cabinet with a special compound for wood;
After the primer dried, I painted it with acrylic paint, which I touched up myself;
I gave the relief details an antique look using decorative enamel;

Completed the job by installing new handles.

Finally, after all the steps taken, here is the result of my efforts!
