“To be honest, there’s not much left of me”: Elton John, who retired from the stage, spoke about the surgeries he underwent

The 77-year-old singer has undergone several surgeries in recent years. Elton John admitted that he is not feeling his best.

The iconic British musician finished his farewell tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, last summer and stopped touring. He remembered with gratitude everyone who supported him during his battle with illness. The artist made rare revelations during a press conference after the screening of the documentary Elton John: It’s Never Too Late at the 62nd New York Film Festival.

“To be honest, there’s not much left of me. I don’t have tonsils, adenoids, or appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip, I don’t have a left knee, I don’t have a right knee. In fact, the only thing I have left is my left hip. But I’m still here. And I can’t thank you enough, you people who created me,” Elton was moved.

At the annual film festival, John delighted the audience with his vocal abilities when he took to the stage with a touching performance of his compositions with piano. “I have never felt so happy as I do now.

As you know, I decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years old, I’ve done everything I can. I’ve succeeded. I’ve been there, and I’ve done that. I have to make room because I’m still going to have music in my life. But the most important thing in my life is my family and my friends. I’ve found utopia, and I’m so excited,” the Grammy Award winner said.

In early September, the singer admitted that he had lost the sight in one eye after battling a severe eye infection. According to Elton, he has spent the last few months practically confined to his home, recuperating. The rehabilitation process is slow, but doctors are doing everything possible to preserve the artist’s ability to see, the Daily Mail reports.

John last took to the stage at his star-studded Oscars party in March. The “Your Song” singer is currently in talks to create a musical based on his stellar catalog of classics.

Despite the curtailed tour, Elton has a busy period ahead, as his musical Tammy Faye opens on Broadway at the end of the year, and the singer’s show Devil Wears Prada is scheduled for Plymouth in July next year. John is currently walking with difficulty, as he had his first knee replaced in January, and his second in the spring. Those close to the artist optimistically reported that he will break dance again, but that is still a long way off.
