We recently became the happy owners of our own home. Before turning 40, we managed to save only for the first mortgage payment. But we are not complaining, on the contrary, we hope that our experience will inspire those who are still renting and are afraid of mortgage loans. The first thing we decided to do was update the kitchen, since this is the area we use often. As you can see from the title, we had a limited budget for renovation.
What the space looked like before the renovation
Initially, our 5 square meter kitchen was a space of average comfort, suitable for temporary living.
The photos show that the kitchen was in decent condition: the walls were ready for painting, there were a lot of sockets (albeit at different heights, which is funny), an enamel-coated sink and modern plastic pipes. On the plus side, there was even an exit to the balcony through a plastic door. The developer did not skimp: the radiators were made of cast iron, not outdated convectors.
What was improved within the budget
- A suspended ceiling has been installed
- A new chandelier has been purchased
- A microwave oven has been purchased
- Kitchen set ordered
- Electrical wiring has been replaced
- A stainless steel sink is installed
- A new mixer was purchased
- An electric kettle has been purchased
The entire renovation took 4 days. My husband adjusted the wiring himself, so no money was spent on labor. We assembled the kitchen unit and installed the sink ourselves. We ordered the stretch ceiling from specialists because of the need to use professional equipment.
I won’t go into details, since everything is clear with our budget. Nevertheless, the situation has noticeably improved, and not only we but also our friends have noticed it. Now it’s time to renovate the room, which we plan to start in six months, once we’ve saved up the necessary amount.
So don’t judge, we are happy with our achievement. After all, the main thing is to be happy where you feel comfortable!
