Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved stars of his generation, and it’s hard to find anyone who has met him with something negative to say. So, when the popular actor shared news of an unfortunate incident, many fans were concerned.
At 59, Reeves revealed that he had suffered a broken kneecap during a production. Known for his action-packed roles in films like *The Matrix* and *John Wick*, Reeves explained how a seemingly minor event had a major impact.
Stephen Colbert asked, “What happened? How did this injury occur?”
With his usual humor, Reeves responded in a tough-guy tone, “No one got to me,” before adding, “Accident got to me.”
Colbert continued, asking, “Were you jumping between buildings or rolling over razor blades? What happened?”
Reeves replied, “No, Stephen, I was simply walking into a dressing room. I’ll explain.”
He revealed that it took place while filming a scene with Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen for the upcoming comedy *Good Fortune*. After enjoying a cold plunge together, Keanu began doing a playful “cold shuffle” on the carpeted floor. Unfortunately, his foot got stuck, leading to the accident.
Reeves stood up during the interview to demonstrate how his knee gave way, explaining, “My kneecap, or patella, broke like a chipped potato. But I didn’t realize it right away. It wasn’t until later that I felt the full effect.”
Laughing it off, Reeves quipped, “Comedy is tough, man.”
Colbert noted, “Aziz and Rogen weren’t in an action film, right?”
Reeves chuckled, “Nope, it was a comedy.”
“Welcome to my life,” Colbert joked in response.
Earlier this year, Keanu was spotted on set with crutches and an ice pack on his knee.
*Good Fortune* marks Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, with Reeves starring alongside Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer. Ansari also co-wrote and co-produced the film.
